Laura Preston

Legislative Consultant

Laura serves as CSHA’s contract lobbyist, leading the association’s policy, regulatory and advocacy work at the state and national levels. She previously worked as a legislative advocate for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California School Boards Association (CSBA). Prior to lobbying, Laura spent 11 years doing legislative and policy work inside the State Capitol. She served as principal consultant for the Joint Committee on School Facilities chaired by then Sen. Leroy Green. She also worked for three former Assembly members. Laura is highly regarded for her advocacy expertise and knowledge across a wide range of education issues. She is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She lives in Sacramento and has a college-aged daughter.
