John Gomez

John Gomez, MA, CCC-SLP, works as a speech-language pathologist for the Los Angeles Unified School District and as a professor at California State University, Los Angeles. He teaches several courses, including Psychosocial Considerations and Fluency Disorders. John also moonlights as a documentary filmmaker. His first feature film, When I Stutter, has won seven awards, been an official selection in 16 film festivals, and has been translated into 13 languages. In 2017, John was honored with the Lois V. Douglass Distinguished Alumnus Award from CSULA and the Emerging Filmmaker Award from the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival. John’s most recent work includes serving as a stuttering consultant on the hit animated show Maya and the Three on Netflix.
