Speech Pathologist
The speech pathologist administers diagnostic tests and provides individualized treatment to adults and children for a variety of communication disorders, voice and swallowing impairment and neurological defects. In this position, you will serve as a clinical expert in specialized areas such as pediatric speech and traumatic brain injury and serve as a consultant on interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include developing protocols and treatment programs, developing and presenting in-service programs, and interpreting and reporting the results of evaluations/tests to referring physicians, therapists, and other medical staff. Additional duties involve planning and conducting remedial programs designed to improve or restore communicative ability, administering treatment in individual or group sessions with patients, and referring patients to specialists in medicine, dentistry, psychology education, or related areas when applicable. Additional related duties will also be assigned.
A master's degree in speech language pathology is required; a PhD is preferred. Current California Speech Pathologist license is required, as is BCLS. Completion of a speech clinical fellowship is preferred. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and three years of clinical experience in speech pathology and dysphasia management are essential. The ability to utilize theories, principles, practices, techniques, and methods of speech therapy is essential. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and basic computer skills are preferred.
