•District News

What is District 2?

It is one of 10 geographically divided areas of the California Speech and Hearing Association.

The District encompasses inland northern California, from Sacramento to the Oregon border and from the Coast ranges to the Nevada state line {photos}

It covers 25 counties and has 440 members who live here

We have two university training programs--CSU Sacramento and CSU Chico

Our members work in hospitals, agencies, school districts and county offices of education, home health agencies, rehab programs, and work in skilled nursing facilities, early intervention programs, state agencies and private practices.

Were do you work?

If you send in a question via the web page, it will come to:

Robert Pieretti --District 2 Director

The District Director is a volunteer member of CSHA (like you) and may take a while to get back to you.....He will answer it or direct or forward it to those who may be able to answer it.

He may send the question to:

Director-Elect,
Dale Spears
prior director
Linda Fawx

Between all of us, we have many, many years of experience; we work in acute care, public schools, non-profit agencies, early intervention, for the state, and teach at the university level.

Our main source of expertise to you, the members, is the well-named Advisory Committee:

We are also looking for members of District 2 to be focus volunteer efforts in areas of legislation, regulatory issues and advocacy (Sacramento/Yolo/Placer/El Dorado County members especially--you are closest to the capitol and we can really use your help!), professional issues, professional development/continuing education.

Because our district so large, we do much of our work by e-mail and phone--we're not asking you to drive 400 miles.

How can District 2 help you and those whom you serve?

•Access to the network of 4000 professionals and to the 440 members of District 2

•Make your concerns heard at the state level
